The client needed a comprehensive refurbishment to revitalise their membership headquarters building located in a prime spot in central London, next to the Savoy Hotel on the River Thames north bank.

AMPC’s contribution lay in both the remodelling of seating for two lecture theatres to improve inclusivity and designing the production lighting concept including the house lighting.
AMPC also designed the architectural lighting to all the front of house event spaces and circulation areas including the lighting to the Maxwell Library, Riverside rooms and the external lighting.

Together with Pringle Richards Sharratt architects, who designed the interiors, the joinery and finishes throughout the IET, AMPC carried out the detailed design of seating to the lecture theatres, and bespoke light fittings relating to Michael Faraday in the newly named Maxwell Library.
The challenge AMPC also achieved lay with the internal and external lighting meeting the budget whilst providing versatile lighting provision.

The works showcase a celebration of engineering achievements and inventions with unique features for adding lights in the banqueting suite.
Activities, shows & life of the project
Since opening for a few months in 2016 the use of the facilities by IET members has increased 5 fold and the numbers of outside bookings has well exceeded client expectation, including broadcasting from every event space.
